Lowering your Energy Costs for Thermal Comfort

Lowering your Energy Costs for Thermal Comfort

One of the energy problems our clients here at Energy Deal is how to lower their energy costs and still be thermally comfortable. Of course, you can always invest in renewable energy like solar, but being energy efficient is the better solution.

Here we have a few tips to get started.

When considering what colour to paint your homes or office and what window coverings to use, try considering how much light can be gained by using light colours for walls and window coverings. These allow the maximum possible light penetration throughout the day.

Of course, there are issues like heat when it comes to too much light entering into the home. So in this case, we recommend buying a special type of film to stick on your windows . This type of film will greatly reduce the amount of incoming UV and heat (and heat loss too). It will not affect your views and works just like a doubled glazed window  except with a fraction of the price.

We also recommend to seal windows, doors and anywhere air leaks in or out by add weather strips around windows and doors where possible.

Of course, when it comes to thermal comfort, we believe that if you had set your temperatures 1 or 2 degrees higher, you can save a large amount of money by the end of the year. Try to set the air-conditioner thermostat at 24 degrees or higher, in summer and at 21 degrees or lower in winter. Also, if you still use an old air conditioner, try to replace it with a split system inverter unit with as many stars in its energy-efficiency rating as possible. The pay back time would not be long at all because of the difference in the energy usage of both systems.
