Bette has supported 'green' ethics and sustainability for decades. Her home and photography studio are solar powered. The site has two rainwater tanks. Working from home allows for minimum vehicle use, and for the maintenance of native and vegie gardens, orchard and hens.
In April 2012 Bette graduated as a Doctor of Creative Art. Her research involved designing a living ecological artwork in the form of a native garden symbolising human-nature unity.
