How a Solar Hot Water System Functions

Here at Integra Solar, we believe in the convenience of having continuous running hot water powered by Solar Energy.

And as much as we’d prefer to avoid to pay our energy bills, we also pay extra attention when the energy bills come around. However when you have solar hot water installation in Melbourne and across Australia from our team here at Integra Solar, you can reduce your heating bills and enjoy readily available hot water when it suits you.

So how does it work? It's simple.

Under normal operating conditions and weather, the potable water within the potable storage tank is heated by the solar collectors.

For example, in an open circuit system, the household hot water is in the collector circuit, cold water is pushed downwards via the long external pipe from the storage tank to the bottom of the solar collector.

As the water is heated in the absorber by the sun, it will rise to the top of the collector. Then it will travel through the short external pipe into the storage tank. During the evenings, on cloudy days or when raining, the circulation will stop if the water is not hot enough. The electric heater can work for you just on those periods to ensure you always have hot water on tap.
