The Federal Government is currently finalising a scheme for the Mandatory Disclosure of Commercial Eco Building Energy Efficiency that will have far-reaching implications for commercial office, retail and hospitality buildings.
Buildings captured under the scheme will require an energy efficiency rating and assessment report to be disclosed at the time of sale, lease or sub-lease.
Obtaining and maintaining a high energy rating under the National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS) will become an ongoing challenge for owners and managers of commercial and retail buildings.
