Trowunna Wildlife Park has the largest burrowing herbivorous mammal known as wombat. 'Badger', is a term that is still heard today certainly, it is such an accomplished burrower that early settlers. In Trowunna Wildlife Park there are three variety of common wombat are found --

1). Vombatus ursinus tasmaniensis which is found in Tasmania

2). Vombatus ursinus hirsutus which is found on the mainland, and

3). Vombatus ursinus ursinus which was once found throughout the Bass Strait islands but is now restricted to Flinders Island
