Set between the steep foothills of the Marlborough’s Seaward Kaikoura Ranges and the windswept tides of Cook Strait, you will discover Yealands Estate Winery.

Led by legendary entrepreneur Peter Yealands, step by innovative step, we’re creating the first fully sustainable winery in New Zealand.

Yealands Estate Winery is one of a handful in the world to achieve carboNZerocert™ certification, the largest in New Zealand to do so, and the first to have measured and offset all greenhouse gas emissions since day one. From storm water swales that harvest rainfall, to solar and wind power generation on site – every aspect of the winery design and operation aims to ensure efficient resource use. Out in the vineyard our eco-friendly initiatives are just as impressive. You’ll find more than 20 wetland areas developed to preserve and attract the native species – and grazing amongst the vines, a flock of Babydoll miniature sheep. Too short to reach the fruit (that full-sized sheep will eat) our pint-sized organic-weeders provide year round mowing and pest control, plus a handy dose of fertiliser.
