 Backflow Prevention is can be configure In certain conditions water can travel from a premises back into a water main when there is a pressure indifference in a water supply. This can result in contaminated, or unclean water being drawn back into the domestic water supply causing people to become ill from drinking the contaminated water.


The water that is supplied to our premises has been through a cleansing process, which is what makes it safe to consume, however there are certain scenarios where this supply becomes contaminated.

Bathtubs & showers, when the spout in underwater.
Kitchen sinks, where the extendable spout is underwater.
Car wash bays
Grease trap

Garbage areas with the hose underwater

Typically back flow happens as a result of ‘siphonage’. Siphonage occurs in scenarios where there is a build up of pressure at a given source, greater than the pressure in the pipes. An example of this is when Sydney water shut off the water main due to things such as a break or leak in the water main and as a result of this it causes the water to be siphoned back into the main.
