The Melbourne Wildlife Sanctuary at La Trobe University was established in 1967 as an assignment in re-establishment and management of original flora and fauna. To offer the considerable numbers of plants necessary the Keelbundora Plant Nursery was set up.
Plants available: - Prior to the appearance of Europeans there was an inspiring verities of inhabitant plants in the area, over 400 type of variety from little orchids to towering eucalypts. Melbourne Wildlife Sanctuary specializes in plants indigenous to the Lower Yarra Valley. Over 250 types of indigenous plants are existing from the Nursery.
